Arts & Culture

The Arts and Culture Interest Group continues to deliver a solid programme of artistic and cultural activity to the people of greater Morpeth. There have been many exciting events and performances staged in our area over the last twelve months, and on the whole these have been both popular and well attended. Notable events have included the lunchtime concerts, the Market Place events, and Lola Montez at the Riverside.

I propose that over the next twelve months the Arts and Culture Interest Group should increase its membership and engagement with a more varied age range, specifically youth and thirtysomethings. We will also look at expanding our current programme to attract a much more varied audience, as well as looking to procure an info-point to focus the promotion of events and activities.

With the current structural changes in our area, and with the Town Hall getting a new lease of life, I strongly believe the Arts and Culture Interest Group is well placed and will have a very exciting and productive year.

Director
